OKNO Literary Agency was founded in 2007.

OKNO is a Swedish-Russian literary agency with offices in Malmo and Moscow. Our ambition is to promote the best of Scandinavian literature in Russia and some of the finest contemporary Russian literature in Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland & Iceland. Today the agency represents some 15 award-winning and commercially successful Scandinavian authors as well as six critically acclaimed Russian authors that undoubtedly belong to the literary classics of our time.

The list of our Scandinavian partners includes, among others, Albert Bonniers Förlag, Norsteds, Gyldendal, Aschehoug, Grand Literary Agency, Nordin Literary Agency, Nordic Literary Agency, Lindhard og Ringhof, People’s Press, Leonhardt & Hoier Literary Agency, WSOY, Söderstörms, Teos Publishers.

In Russia we have established cooperation with a number of prominent Russian writers as well as Goumen & Smirnova Literary Agency.

Another success for Mikhail Shishkin’s novel Maiden’s Hair- Batzer & Co in Denmark has now acquired the rights! This will be the 10th country that will enjoy this wonderful book.

Great news for Max Frei's bestselling fantasy novel The Stranger that will be published in Norway by Schibstedt Forlag following the international success. In the US the book was published by the Overlook Press thathas now acquired the rights to the complete series.

Yet another country for Maiden's Hair
Yet another country has acquired Mikhail Shishkin’s brilliant novel Maiden’s Hair - Varrak, Estonia will publish the book spring 2010.
The novel, already sold to 8 countries, have becomes an intellectual bestseller in Russia and enjoyed excellent reviews.

Max Frei takes the US by storm
Max Frei's novel The Stranger, the first book of her Mazes of Echo series, has recently been published in the US by Overlook Press. Peter Meyer made the following comment in press: “We didn't acquire Max Frei's wonderful contemporary epic The Stranger because it was foreign literature or because it came from Russia. It's just a marvellous book that has sold everywhere”.

Vremya Noch by Ludmilla Petrushevskaya
Ludmilla Petrushevskaya's prize-winning novel Vremya Noch (The Time: Night) has now been acquired by Cappelen Damm, Norway to be published in 2010.

Maiden's Hair by Shishkin to Norway & Germany
Mikhail Shishkin’s book Maiden’s Hair that has just been sold to Forlaget Oktober, Norway to be published spring 2010. With seven countries already under its belt including a recent German acquisition by DVA, Germany with a publication lined up spring 2010, we are certain that the book will win the hearts of the Scandinavian readers.
